Solar refrigeration firm Dulas wins biggest ever order
Solar cold chain specialist Dulas has secured its biggest ever order with seven hundred and eighty vaccine refrigerators heading to Nigeria.
Dulas, based in Machynlleth, has provided innovative solar powered solutions to remote and off grid locations for more than three decades.
Its products help to support the delivery of essential medical aid in developing communities around the world.
WalesOnline reports the Nigerian Ministry of Health chose Dulas from UNICEF’s list of approved suppliers after a competitive tendering process.
The Vaccine Alliance (Gavi) has provided significant funding towards the cost of the order through its cold chain equipment optimisation programme.
Gavi is an alliance of twenty five countries and has helped save over thirteen million lives by immunising seven hundred and sixty million children since its formation in 2000.
Installation in locations across the whole of the country will be carried out by Dulas’s local partner in Nigeria, Fenlab, with the refrigerators arriving in two batches this year and a third one early in 2021.
The order is for two Dulas solar powered fridge products which are capable of operating in surrounding temperatures of between plus five and forty five degrees centigrade.
The fridges also come with Dulas’ remote monitors which send SMS and email alerts if the temperature varies from the specified range.
Ruth Chapman, Dulas managing director, said “We are so pleased to have won this contract. The refrigerators we supply are critical in supporting the Vaccine Alliance’s ambition to eradicate diseases through routine vaccination programmes. Our fridges will give local populations across Nigeria access to these vital vaccines.
“We’re proud of our equipment and are sure that its proven quality and our track record in delivering solar refrigeration to remote and off-grid locations have been key to the Nigerian government choosing Dulas to assist their vaccination programme.”
