GX announced as product design partner for AgorIP
MediWales reports that, following a competitive tender, GX has been appointed as the product design partner for AgorIP, the latest collaboration between Swansea University, the EU and Welsh Government.
Based at Swansea University, AgorIP aims to bridge the gap between designers and suppliers by helping those with embryonic ideas appreciate how to take their ideas to the next stage. Since their launch in May, AgorIP has funded nearly a hundred innovations and seen seven new products and services developed.
AgorIP director, Dr Gerry Ronan, said “AgorIP is an exemplar of how Government, Universities, the Private Sector and Inventors/ Creators collaborate and through collaboration, great things can happen!”
GX was formed over thirty years ago as Grid Xitek Ltd. Their managing director, Mark Helmich, said “With our proven track record of turning brilliant ideas into commercial reality, we are a natural fit for a design partner for AgorIP who’s aiming to encourage innovation across Wales. We were delighted to be asked by AgorIP to partner them on their quest to turn innovative research and ideas into new products. We are firm believers of collaboration, since drawing on the experience within our design teams based at Usk, has helped us develop many products. We are looking forward to using our knowledge to help others shape new ideas into commercially viable products and services.”
AgorIP is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government. Based at Swansea University’s School of Management, AgorIP helps researchers, entrepreneurs and inventors take their IP to the marketplace and make it a commercial success.
Professor Marc Clement, Vice-President of Swansea University and Dean of the School of Management, said “AgorIP links academics, the NHS with investors and business experts to develop innovative ideas and ways of working. I’m confident the results will be of major benefit to the Welsh economy.”
