Specialist manufacturer EKF has received two orders for Covid-19 sample collection kits.

Insider Media reports the Penarth headquartered business has secured two new customers for the PrimeStore MTM Covid-19 sample collection devices; Health Service Executive Ireland and a national health body in England.

The tests will be made at EKF’s facilities in Penarth and Barleben, Germany.

The company said the new orders will “contribute to the expected strong performance” in the fourth quarter of its financial year.

EKF is expected to provide a further update on trading next month.

The PrimeStore MTM sample collection device deactivates viruses, bacteria, fungi and mycobacterium tuberculosis allowing safe sample handling and transport, greatly reducing risk of infection. The device was invented in 2006 in preparation for a worldwide pandemic.
